Camp Grandma

Every summer my parents take all the grandkids to their house for Camp Grandma. They do all sorts of games, crafts, cooking, ping-pong tournaments, canoeing, etc. The cousins all have fun, but we (as parents) have the best time being kid-less. Ahhhh...taking naps, going to the temple without feeling rushed to get home, going to real restaurants and movies that cost more than one dollar. Just as we are getting used to being empty nesters (and loving it), it's time the for parent's bbq to end Camp Grandma. Oh no, please don't let it end!

By then my parents are exhausted and so excited to feel that kid-less feeling that we've been having. I really appreciate them doing this. My mom stays up till midnight a couple nights before it getting reading-putting games together, wrapping prizes, etc. They do a great job and the kids sure have fun. There wasn't a Camp Grandma last year because my parents were missionaries at the Heber Valley Girl's Camp. And boy did we miss not having it.

Thanks mom and dad!

By the way, if you Google 'Deanna Herrmann' there comes up an article in Family Fun Magazine that featured just a tiny bit about Camp Grandma with a picture of the kids from 2005.

I'm so going to do this when the grandkids get old enough. Such an awesome idea and a great way for the cousins to connect too.

That is the BEST!! I'm so jealous and I am so doing a camp when I have grandkids- that is, if I survive having kids :)
