Okay, this is why I'm so excited. On Monday, January 26 the American Library Association will announce the winners of the Newbery Medal, the Caldecott Medal, as well as many other worthy awards.
The Newbery honors the author of the year's most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. The Caldecott honors the illustrator of the year's most distinguished American picture book for children.
There will also be honor awards given too. Sometimes I enjoy the honor books more than the actual medal winner. There have been a couple Newbery Medal books that I have read and have thought- how in the world did this book win anything? It's just awful all the way around!
The ALA is announcing the winners at 7:45 am MT. Usually the Today Show has the medal winning author and illustrator on for a brief segment.

Ohhh! I can't wait to see the winners! Thanks for the updates. It's always fun to check out the nominees.
Have you ever read "Tuesday" or "Time Flies"? I think they were winners year back.
How cute are you! You should host some crazy and wild party-- like an oscar party, only for bookies :) I LOVE that you love books.
