This is NOT CRACKING me up!

No, it's not raining in this picture.
This is what the door looks like.

Okay, so it kind of looks cool at night
when you take a flash picture of it.
But nothing else about this is cool!

This is worse than the Costco chicken.

Okay, Saturday was a nice day. I cleaned the inside of the sliding glass door and then went out on the deck to clean the outside of it. All done.

I opened the sliding glass door all the way so that I could close the screen door since the weather was so nice.

PROBLEM!!!!!!!

I did not even open it hard at all, but when it hit the end thing that sticks out, the entire thing shattered into pieces. The glass is double paned. It just broke the pane that is on the inside of the house. The cracks were about 1-2 inches all over. It kept making a cracking pop sound for the next few hours. Now all the cracks are about a centimeter or less all over. But the door is still standing.

We keep expecting it to just fall out all over at any moment. We have the curtain closed, the table moved, and the vent covered just in case. I keep waking up at night thinking that I heard the glass fall.

Someone will be out tomorrow (Wednesday) to look at it. I hope it stays up until then.

Things like this just seem to always happen to me. I told Jordan that and he said, "I know what you mean. That stuff happens to me all the time too." (That actually is true.) I guess I passed on some kind of bad gene to him.

I think that kind of stuff is truly genetic :) I suffer from the same kind of DNA disorder...
Sorry about that. I hate it when things like that happen. I think you should make up some stellar story about how a robber broke in and you kicked his trash-- you know, embellish a little :)
Let us know if the repair guy has ever seen anything quite like that-

That's amazing! I saw a piece of glass like that at the San Diego Zoo. An orangutan had thrown a rock at his cage glass and it shattered just like that! The zoo had it on display...maybe you could seal it in more glass and have a fine conversation piece!

OK, "worse than the Costco chicken" IS funny! Sorry 'bout that. I certainly hope the glass company comes through for you. I have never seen or heard of anything like this in my life. Do you have any orangutans hanging around your house? I like Cathy's suggestion to seal it with more glass. It might be kind of pretty - and original - then. You could be starting a new decorating trend! Best of luck. Mom

Nope, I'm still shaking my head about the Costco chicken. Such a tragedy! This is actually kind of cool. I was thinking when I saw it, how could it snow in Orem and not here? Duh! Good luck. Let us know what the repair guy says.
